Standards support
Every line says where the claim came from. We do not test conformance ourselves and we issue no badge of our own.
| Standard | Supported | Provenance | Checked | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SCORM 1.2 | Yes | vendor-stated— source, opens in a new tab | The Opigno SCORM module's project page states compliance with SCORM 1.2. Taken from that page; not confirmed against a conformance suite here. | |
| SCORM 20043rd edition | Yes | vendor-stated— source, opens in a new tab | The distribution's own page says Opigno 3.x is "SCORM compliant (1.2 and 2004 v3)". The module page says only "SCORM 2004" without an edition. | |
| xAPI | Yes | vendor-stated— source, opens in a new tab | Provided by the separate Opigno TinCan API module, which emits statements to an external LRS. Its page names Learning Locker and Watershed as the LRSs it was tested against. | |
| cmi5 | Not stated | — | — | — |
| AICC | Not stated | — | — | — |
| LTI | Not stated | — | — | — |
- Claimed

- Checked
- — an editor confirmed it on the date shown.
- Verified
- — an official registry lists it, and we link to the entry.
Editor's notes
Opigno is a Drupal distribution rather than a standalone application: a curated set of modules, configuration and a theme that turn Drupal into a learning platform with training paths, classes, certificates, badges, live meetings and H5P-based activities. It is maintained by the Swiss agency Connect-i, which also sells hosted and enterprise editions alongside the free Community release.
The case for it is straightforward. If an organisation already runs Drupal — with its content model, user management, translation handling and access control in place — Opigno makes training another part of the same site rather than a second system to integrate. The learning-path model is more flexible than the usual course-and-module hierarchy.
The case against it is equally clear. You inherit Drupal's operational reality: major-version upgrades, module compatibility, and PHP hosting that has to be maintained properly. SCORM support lives in a bolt-on module whose stated ceiling is 2004 3rd Edition, which is enough for most published content but not the deep sequencing implementation a purpose-built player offers. There is no cmi5 claim, and we would not infer one.
Maintenance is healthy — the distribution page was updated in August 2026 and the 3.2 branch reports over a thousand reported installs — but note that opigno_scorm and opigno_tincan_api are updated on their own, slower cadence.
