What this is
scorm-tools.com catalogues the software that produces, converts, plays, tests, packages, hosts and tracks e-learning content in SCORM, xAPI, cmi5, AICC and LTI. Open-source libraries and command-line tools sit alongside commercial authoring suites, learning management systems and learning record stores, because the person choosing between them is usually the same person, and nowhere else puts a JavaScript runtime next to a desktop debugger next to an LRS.
Every listing carries the same fact block: which standards the tool supports, where that claim came from, its licence, its pricing model, how it is deployed, and — for open source — how alive the repository actually is. The provenance is the point. Most directories print "supports SCORM 2004" as though it were a measurement. Here the page tells you whether the vendor claimed it, whether the editor checked it and when, or whether an official registry backs it. The rules behind all of that are on how we list .
What it is not
- Not a review site. No star ratings and no user reviews. Ratings need moderation this site cannot staff, and a directory with four reviews per product is worse than one with none.
- Not a launch board. No upvotes, leaderboards or streaks. Those reward campaigning rather than quality.
- Not a lead funnel in fancy dress. Organic order is decided by published criteria and is not for sale.
- Not a general e-learning directory. SCORM and its neighbouring standards, or it does not belong here.
- Not a conformance authority. We link ADL, 1EdTech and xAPI registries; we certify nothing.
Who runs it
The directory is published by LOST END FOUND LTD, a UK company working in SCORM engineering and digital accessibility, and it is written and maintained by a single editor. That is worth knowing when you weigh a listing: the coverage is deliberate rather than automated, the checking is manual, and the date printed on a page tells you when a human last looked at it.
The site itself is built to WCAG 2.2 AA. The publisher sells accessibility work, so an inaccessible directory of e-learning tools would be a poor advertisement — and a page about compliance standards ought to meet one.
How it is paid for
At the time of writing, nothing on this site has been paid for. There is no advertising, no sponsored placement, no affiliate income and no fee for being listed. The directory is funded by the publisher's other work.
The intention is to sell clearly labelled sponsorship later, once there is traffic worth buying: separate boxed slots, one-word labels, published prices, rel="sponsored" on the links, and no effect whatsoever on organic order. Those rules are published in advance, deliberately, so that anyone can hold the site to them when the money arrives.
Publisher disclosure
LOST END FOUND LTD publishes this directory and also sells SCORM tools. Three of them are listed in it: ppt-to-scorm.com, a PowerPoint-to-SCORM converter; scorm-lab.com, a free in-browser SCORM debugger; and scormbridge.app, a licensing and distribution service. They compete directly with other tools in this directory.
Leaving them out would be its own distortion — a SCORM directory that silently omits three SCORM products is not neutral, it is just quieter about the bias. So they are listed, and fenced in:
- They appear in a separate "Our products" block and carry a publisher badge on their listings, so you always know who wrote the page you are reading.
- They are never editor's picks, and never appear in a recommendation slot chosen by the publisher.
- They can never occupy a paid slot, which would be the publisher buying the appearance of independence from itself.
- They are held to the same fact block, the same provenance rules, the same content bar and the same correction process as every other listing.
Their competitors are listed on identical terms, with identical fields. Where a page makes a comparative factual claim about a competing product, the claim carries provenance and a source link, and the correction route is one click from every listing. If any page here reads as though it were written by somebody selling against the tool it describes, treat that as a defect and report it — see the listing policy .
