Forma LMS

Forma LMS is a self-hosted PHP platform aimed at corporate training rather than schools: catalogues, classrooms, certificates, competency and reporting, with an e-commerce module for selling courses. It descends from the community edition of Docebo 4.0.5, forked in 2012 when that product moved to SaaS, and remains largely an Italian-speaking community project.

For this directory the relevant part is that it ships its own SCORM player rather than embedding someone else's. The run-time adapter reads the manifest's schemaversion and instantiates a 1.2 or a 2004 API object accordingly, storing tracking in dedicated learning_scorm_* tables, so both content generations run natively. There is a class named for xAPI in the same file, but no evidence of a working statement pipeline, so no xAPI or cmi5 claim is recorded here.

Where it fits: an organisation that wants a conventional, ledger-style corporate LMS on its own servers and does not want to run Moodle. Where it does not: anyone needing a modern deployment story. The install documentation still specifies PHP 8.0–8.1 and MySQL 5.7, and PHP 8.1 reached end of security support at the end of 2025 — a real consideration for a system holding staff records.

Maintenance is steady but small: commits through 2026, roughly forty stars, and this GitHub repository is described as a mirror, so issues and discussion happen on formalms.org rather than here.
