Editor's notes
This is the reference against which SCORM 2004 4th Edition conformance was defined: the LMS test, content package test, SCO test and manifest test written by ADL, the body that wrote the specification. Where every other testing tool in this directory represents somebody's interpretation of the standard, this one is the standard's own interpretation, which is why it is worth knowing about even if you never run it.
Running it is another matter. The repository was published in 2015 so that developers could adapt the source to their own environments, and it has not been touched since. The documented prerequisites are Internet Explorer 8 or older and the Java 6 applet runtime; building from source additionally wants Ant 1.7.1 and a code-signing certificate for the applets. Both browser plug-in Java and IE are gone from supported platforms, so this is a virtual-machine exercise for someone who has a specific reason — settling an argument about correct sequencer behaviour, or reproducing a historical certification result.
Two practical notes. ADL's own hosting for the suite did not respond when we checked on 24 August 2026, which makes the GitHub copy the dependable source. And the repository carries no LICENSE file, but the README reproduces the Apache 2.0 grant with a 2014 ADL copyright.
For day-to-day package validation, use a maintained tool. Keep this one for questions only the source of truth can answer.
