TRAX LRS is a Learning Record Store written in Laravel by Sébastien Fraysse, now at version 3.1. Its defining quality is restraint. It receives, validates, stores and serves xAPI statements, with an admin interface for inspecting and filtering them, and it declines to be a dashboard, a reporting suite or a learning platform. For a team that already has analytics and needs a compliant store underneath, that narrowness is the point.

Practically, it is a conventional PHP deployment: Apache with mod_rewrite, PHP 8.2 or later, MySQL or PostgreSQL, Composer, and a document root pointed at `public`. Anyone who has run a Laravel application will be finished in an hour. Multi-tenancy is present in the routing — clients and stores are path segments on the endpoint — which is useful if you serve several customers or environments from one instance.

Two things to weigh. Version 3.1 speaks xAPI 1.0.3, not 2.0. And upgrading from 3.0.x requires a fresh install of the application, database retained, which is a documented but manual step.

The repository sits at thirteen stars, last pushed December 2025, with a longer history under the 3.0 and 2.x repositories. This is a single-maintainer project with a commercial edition funding it — a healthier arrangement than a hobby project, but the dependency is on one person either way.
